MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. (12/07/19)---A 3-goal deficit was too much to overcome for Concordia as they lost 4-1 at No.10-ranked St. Thomas in the series finale.
The Cobbers gave up three straight goals at the back end of the first period and through the second frame before finally getting on the board in the third period.
The loss is the third in the last four games for Concordia. CC is now 4-5-0 overall and 2-4-0 in the MIAC. The Tommies move to 7-2-3 in all games and 6-0-0 in league play.
Senior Sara Baumann scored the only goal for the Cobbers. She brought CC to within a pair of goals in the ninth minute of the third period. She scored an unassisted goal at 8:38 to push the score to 3-1. It was Baumann's second goal of the season. Her two goals in 2019-20 matches her single season high. She also had two goals as a sophomore in 2017-18.
Concordia was staked to two power play chances after Baumann's goal but couldn't convert to get to within a single score.
The Cobbers were 0-for-5 on the power play in the series finale and went 0-for-8 on the weekend.
Concordia freshman goalie Kiana Flaig had another solid game between the pipes. She stopped 27 shots and made 64 saves for the 2-game series.
The Cobbers had 24 shots on goal for the game and were led by Maiah McCowan who put up five shots on goal.
