Cobbers Outslug Bluffton in 13-10 Win in Auburndale
Concordia College rode an 18-hit offensive outburst to a 13-10 win over Bluffton University in a high-scoring non-conference matchup in Auburndale, Florida.
AUBURNDALE, Fla. (3/4/26) – Concordia College rode an 18-hit offensive outburst to a 13-10 win over Bluffton University in a high-scoring non-conference matchup in Auburndale, Fla.
The Cobbers struck first with three runs in the opening inning. Jake Gruebele delivered an RBI double to left, Mason Henry followed with an RBI triple down the right-field line, and Brayden Wolfgram added a run-scoring single to give Concordia a 3-0 lead.
Bluffton responded with a seven-run fourth inning, collecting seven hits to surge in front 7-3. Xander Greulich highlighted the rally with a two-run double, while Sam Archambeau added an RBI single as the Beavers seized momentum.
Concordia answered immediately. Wolfgram brought home a run on a double-play ball in the fourth before the Cobbers erupted for six runs in the fifth.
Gruebele and Henry each drove in a run to start the rally, Wolfgram tied the game with a sacrifice fly, and Ben Shumansky ripped a two-run single to put Concordia back in front. Alex Everson capped the inning with an RBI single as the Cobbers reclaimed a 10-7 advantage.
Bluffton battled back to tie the game at 10-10 in the sixth, capitalizing on a hit-by-pitch and a passed ball.
The Cobbers once again had an answer. Henry delivered his third RBI single of the game in the sixth to put Concordia back on top, and Tanner Nowacki drew a bases-loaded walk to extend the lead to 12-10. Henry added an insurance RBI in the seventh with his fifth hit of the afternoon, finishing 5-for-6 with four RBI and three runs scored.
Gruebele scored three times and drove in two, while Shumansky went 4-for-6 with two RBI as Concordia totaled nine walks and 18 hits in the win.
On the mound, James Fry earned the victory with two scoreless innings of relief. Cullen Norland picked up the save, tossing the final two innings and stranding four runners to secure the 13-10 victory.
Bluffton was led offensively by Greulich (3-for-6, two RBI) and Archambeau (3-for-4, two RBI), as the Beavers finished with 15 hits.
Concordia faces UW-Oshkosh tomorrow for a 2:30 start time in Winter Haven Florida.
