Game One
Concordia-Moorhead dropped the opening game of its doubleheader with Luther College, falling 6-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Luther scored the game's first run in the bottom of the first inning after a leadoff single and stolen base set up a sacrifice fly that gave the Norse a 1-0 lead.
The Norse added to their advantage in the second inning with five runs on four hits. Luther used a two-run double, an RBI single and a two-run home run in the frame to push its lead to 6-0.
Concordia was limited to two hits in the contest. Mason Henry and Jack Primus each collected singles for the Cobbers, while Henry also reached base three additional times with two walks and a hit-by-pitch.
Ben Trutwin started on the mound for Concordia and pitched the first five innings, allowing six runs on six hits while striking out one. Grant Paffrath came on in relief and held the Norse scoreless over the final three innings, giving up two hits and striking out one.
After the five-run second inning, Concordia's pitching staff settled in and kept Luther off the scoreboard the rest of the way. The Cobbers also turned a double play in the fourth inning to help halt a Norse rally.

Luther seized control early, scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Norse capitalized on four hits, multiple walks and a pair of Concordia errors to build a large early lead.
The Norse added another run in the second inning on a sacrifice fly after back-to-back doubles put runners in scoring position. Luther plated its final run in the third inning on another sacrifice fly to extend the advantage to 12-0.
