Dorsey's Grand Slam Highlights Offensive Showcase
Drew Dorsey’s first collegiate grand slam was the highlight of an offensive showcase put on between Concordia and Minn.-Morris as the teams combined for 23 runs and 21 hits in a contest that ultimately ended up with a 13-10 score line in favor of the Cougars.
MORRIS, Minn. (4/26/26)---Drew Dorsey's first collegiate grand slam was the highlight of an offensive showcase put on between Concordia and Minn.-Morris in the Cobbers' final non-conference game of the season.
The two teams combined for 23 runs and 21 hits in a contest that featured three home runs, eight extra-base hits and five multiple-run innings. In the end, it was a 7-run fourth frame that swayed the 7-inning game in favor of the Cougars, who came away with a 13-10 victory.
The squads were supposed to play a doubleheader but the second game was cancelled due to rain in the Morris area.
The loss gives the Cobbers a 6-9 mark against non-MIAC opponents for the year. CC is 12-19 in all games. Morris avenges a 9-8 loss to Concordia last week and is now 17-15.
The teams traded single run in the first inning and then went on a multi-run tear from the bottom of the third to the bottom of the fifth. The teams scored 20 of the 23 runs in the game during that stretch.
The Cobbers scored twice in the top of the fourth to return the two scores posted by the Cougars in the bottom of the third. Luke Knudsen led off with a walk and Tanner Nowacki followed with a double to left field. Bryce Binek's ground out scored Knudsen and Nowacki crossed the plate on a wild pitch.
The game went into high gear in the bottom of the inning when Morris put up seven runs on five hits.
CC refused to go quietly and came up with six runs in the fifth to push the score to 10-9 in favor of UMM.
The big base knock in the fifth was Dorsey's granny which came after Brayden Wolfgram and Knudsen had already scored.
The Cougars once again answered with another crooked number as they put up the game-deciding runs in the bottom of the fifth.
The offenses ran out of gas in the sixth and seventh with Concordia claiming the final run in the sixth when Wolfgram doubled home Mason Henry after Henry opened the frame with a walk.
The Cobbers finished the game with eight hits. Wolfgram and Nowacki both had 2-hit contests. Nowacki also had the only other multi-RBI game besides Dorsey as he drove home a pair.
CC used five different pitchers in the game with Vann Olson and Isaiah Terlinden finishing the contest by combining to pitch the final 1.2 innings without giving up a run.
Concordia will complete the 2026 season when they host Bethel on Tuesday, Apr. 28 and then play at St. Scholastica on Saturday, May 2.
