Concordia senior defensive back Jacob Pipho (Decorah, Iowa) was named the MIAC Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding performance in the Cobbers’ 14-13 win over Gustavus on Saturday.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/29/25)---Concordia senior defensive back Jacob Pipho (Decorah, Iowa) was named the MIAC Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding performance in the Cobbers' 14-13 win over Gustavus on Saturday.
The conference weekly honor is the first in his career for Pipho and he becomes the first Concordia player to receive an MIAC Player of the Week award this year.
Pipho had an all-around monster game on defensive and special teams that was one of the catalysts in Concordia's first conference win of the year.
Pipho came up with an interception, forced a fumble, blocked a punt and posted a team-high 7.0 solo tackles.
Not only did he account for three turnovers in the game but, all three came in pivotal points in the game. His blocked punt gave Concordia the ball at the Gustavus 23-yard line and led to the Cobbers' game-winning touchdown. His interception came in the middle of the fourth quarter with CC holding on to the lead and his forced fumble stopped a Gustie drive on the Cobbers' end of the field.
Pipho and the rest of the Cobbers will look to continue their success when they host St. Scholastica on Saturday, Oct. 4 as part of the annual Homecoming festivities on campus.
