Cobbers Post 58 On MIAC Academic All-Conference List

Concordia upped its record-setting total from last fall's Academic All-Conference list as they had 58 student-athletes earn the honor.

MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/28/25)---Concordia recorded another record-setting number of fall sports student-athletes who earned MIAC Academic All-Conference honors. 
 
The Cobbers had 58 student-athletes from the six fall-only athletic teams receive the yearly conference academic award. That total is one more than last year’s record number of 57.

The league honors student-athletes in six different fall sports teams with men’s and women’s golf awards being handed out in the spring.
 
To qualify for Academic All-MIAC status, student-athletes must be sophomores, juniors, or seniors by academic standards with a minimum cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Students must also complete one full-time academic year at their current institution before becoming eligible for the honor.

To meet the athletic qualifications, an individual must be a member of a MIAC-sponsored varsity sports team, be academically and athletically eligible, have utilized a season of participation per NCAA and MIAC definitions, and have remained on the sports roster through the conclusion of the sports season to be eligible for Academic All-Conference honors.
 
The Cobber football team posted a record number of MIAC Academic All-Conference award winners. They had 25 student-athletes receive the honor, two more than last year. The women's cross country team program also had a record number of student-athletes earn the conference academic award. They had 10 honorees.   

All totaled, the MIAC had 850 student-athletes earn Academic All-Conference honors. Football led all fall sports this year with a record 219 honorees, exceeding 200 honorees for the second year in a row. Women's soccer also eclipsed the 200 mark, setting a new sport record with 207 this fall - 26 more than the previous high of 181 set last year. Women's cross country had 116 honorees, while volleyball had 110, and men's soccer had 104. Men's cross country totaled 94 honorees, two shy of the sport's all-time record of 96, set last year.
