2025 Cobber Athletics Hall of Fame Class Announced
Concordia Athletic Director Rachel Bergeson announced that six former standout student-athletes will be inducted into the Cobber Athletics Hall of Fame this fall.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (6/09/25)---Concordia Athletic Director Rachel Bergeson announced that six former standout student-athletes will be inducted into the Cobber Athletics Hall of Fame this fall.
Former cross country and track & field All-American Heidi (Brenden) Selch, men’s basketball All-Region sharp shooter Keith Eckhoff, women’s basketball All-American Melanie (Hageman) McNay, 3-time MIAC All-Conference men’s soccer player Mike Hashbarger, football All-American Andrew Passanante and wrestling All-American Nathan Reiff will be inducted into the Concordia Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, Oct. 4 as part of the annual Homecoming celebration.
Heidi (Brenden) Selch ’01 was a 2-time NCAA All-Region performer in cross country and an NCAA All-American in track and field. In addition to her two All-Region honors, Heidi was also a 2-time MIAC All-Conference honoree in cross country in 1998 and 2000 and helped the 2000 Cobber team earn a spot at the NCAA National Meet. She won five MIAC championships in indoor and outdoor track and field and earned All-American honors at the 2001 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet by placing second in the 800 meters. Heidi was named the Central Region Track Athlete of the Year in 1999, claimed MIAC Indoor Meet Most Outstanding Athlete of the Year honors that same season and helped Concordia win the 1998 and 1999 MIAC indoor and 1999 MIAC outdoor team championships.
Keith Eckhoff ’06 was the first men’s basketball athlete to earn D3hoops.com All-Region honors and one of only four players in program history to receive that award. In addition to his All-Region honor in 2005, he was also named to the MIAC All-Conference Team that year. Keith averaged 21.3 points per game in the 2005 season, which is one of only three times since 1976 that a Cobber player has finished a year by averaging more than 20.0 points per game. He also led the MIAC in free throw percentage that year and connected on 47.9 percent of his shots from 3-point range – the highest single-season percentage in Cobber history. Keith finished his career with 1,019 points and 121 3-point field goals.
Melanie (Hageman) McNay ’08 earned WBCA All-American honors in 2008. She is the only 3-time D3hoops.com All-Region Award winner in school history and is one of only 10 players in program history to be named to the MIAC All-Conference Team on three occasions. Melanie is also one of only 12 players in school history to score at least 1,000 points and grab 500 rebounds in a career. She finished in the Top 6 of the MIAC in scoring in her sophomore, junior and senior seasons and helped Concordia win the 2006 MIAC regular season championship. Melanie is fourth on the Cobber all-time list in scoring and finished her career with 1,625 points and 690 rebounds.
Mike Hashbarger ’97 was a 2-sport athlete at Concordia and is the only player in MIAC men’s soccer history to earn All-Conference honors as a forward, midfielder and defender in three consecutive seasons. He led the Cobber men’s soccer team in scoring in 1993 with 33 points, the fifth most in program history and was third in MIAC in scoring that year. Mike also posted the third-highest assist total in program history in 1993 and was tied for the conference lead in assists. He was a driving force behind the 1995 Cobber squad winning the first-ever MIAC championship in program history. Mike was also a 3-year member of the Concordia men’s hockey team. He was second on the team in assists in 1994 and finished his hockey career with 18 goals and 37 assists for 55 points.
Andrew Passanante ’05 received Football Gazette All-American honors in his senior season in 2004. He also received D3football.com All-American Honorable Mention honors and was a 2-time MIAC All-Conference honoree. Andrew led the MIAC in receptions and receiving yards in 2004 and helped the Cobbers win the MIAC championship, where they advanced to the second round of the NCAA playoffs. Andrew is still the school record holder for receiving yards and receptions in a single season when he caught 74 passes for 1,215 yards in 2004. He is also third on the school’s all-time career receiving yard list (2,172), fifth in pass receptions (131), second in receiving touchdowns (20) and second in receptions per game (5.04).
Nathan Reiff ’00 was an All-MIAC honoree in two sports at Concordia. He earned NCAA All-American honors in 1999 when he placed seventh in the 175-lb weight class. He was one of only a few Cobber athletes in program history to participate in four NCAA Championship Meets. Nathan was the last Concordia wrestler to win an individual weight class at an MIAC Conference Meet when he claimed the title in the 177-lb weight class in 1997. He was a 2-year captain of the Cobber wrestling squad and was a 3-time Scholastic All-American honoree. Nathan also received MIAC All-Conference First Team honors in football in 1999 when he led Concordia in rushing, was second in total offensive yards and third in scoring.
This year’s Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. on the campus of Concordia College.
