Anderson Pics Up The Mic

MOORHEAD, Minn. (7/24/26)---Longtime play-by-play and radio broadcaster Brad Anderson has been hired as the new voice of Concordia athletics it was announced on Friday.

Anderson, who is the sports director and morning show host at KZTK radio in Casselton, N.D., takes over for Hall of Fame legend Larry Knutson who retired from doing play-by-play for the Cobbers in the spring.

“Brad is a tremendous broadcaster, who will be able to carry on the outstanding play-by-play duties for Concordia,” Athletics Communication Director Jim Cella said. “Being a Concordia grad, Brad understands what Cobber athletics is about and will be able to bring the same personal touch to every broadcast that Larry (Knutson) always did. We are very excited about the seamless transition from Larry to Brad and are excited to have him call Cobber games for a long time.”

Anderson graduated from Concordia in 1998 and has been in sportscasting and play-by-play ever since. He has been working as the play-by-play announcer for football and basketball games for North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) since 2010 and has worked as one of the voices for the Fargo Force since 2015. In addition to his work with NDSCS and the Fargo Force, Anderson has been the play-by-play person for Central Cass, Northern Cass, Maple River and Kindred high schools.

“I’m thrilled to be back at my alma mater and to broadcast Concordia Athletics,” Anderson commented. “It’s an honor to follow the legendary Larry Knutson, and I’m ready to continue the quality broadcasts than Cobber fans have grown accustomed to.”

Anderson has earned numerous awards throughout his broadcasting career. He was named the 2017 North Dakota Sportscaster of the Year from the National Sports Media Association in 2017 and was a finalist for the same award in 2016, 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2025. Anderson was also honored by the Minnesota Associated Press and Midwest Boradcast Journalists Association for his work in play-by-play and sportscasting.

“Whenever Larry had a conflict with Moorhead Highs School events in the past couple of years and I asked around for names of a broadcaster who would be a great fit to do the play-by-play – there was only one name everyone gave me – and that was Brad Anderson,” Cella added. “I believe that Brad is one of the best, if not the best, play-by-play broadcasters in the area and I am ecstatic to have him as the next voice of Cobber athletics.

Anderson will do the play-by-play for Concordia football games on WDAY radio for all 10 games as well as the live video stream for all home games. He will also broadcast all the home men’s and women’s basketball games on the live video stream.
