MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/12/13)— Concordia's 78-67 win over Hamline on Saturday resembled assistant coach Freddy Coleman's hair style – it had no flow. The Cobbers sputtered and clawed their way to an 11-point win to record their seventh consecutive victory – the longest winning streak since the 1995-96 season.
Concordia is now 7-2 in the MIAC and all alone in second place in the league standings. CC is 10-4 overall which is the earliest they have reached the double-digit win total since 1995-96.
The Cobbers' definitive run of the game came in the final five minutes of the first half and the first four minutes of the second half. CC was able to take a one-point lead and grind it into a 10-point advantage.
Concordia pushed the lead to as many as 14 points in the final period but could never fully pull away from the Pipers.
"We couldn't get those critical two or three baskets to get the lead to 16 or 18 points," commented head coach Rich Glas.
Despite not being able to put the game out of reach, the Cobbers did not allow Hamline to get within seven points in the final 16-minutes of second half and won by 11.
Concordia shot 43.1% (28-for-65) from the floor and 36.0% (9-for-25) from 3-point range. The Cobbers were a perfect 13-for-13 from the free throw line.
The Cobbers had four players score in double figures and were led by senior guard Aaron Lindahl who had team highs in points (18) and rebounds (9). He also added three assists and two steals. It is the fourth straight game that Lindahl has scored in double figures and the nine-rebound total is his highest of the season. Ebo Nana-Kweson posted 13 points and six rebounds. Andrew Martinson added 11 points and Brandon Fisher had 10 while Scott Flotterud came off the bench to score nine points and have a career high four blocks.
Concordia will look to keep their winning streak going when they play at Bethel on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 7:45 p.m.
