A Big Man's Win
Concordia "bigs" Jacob Cook and Jackson Loge combined for 44 points, 15 rebounds and shot 72.0% (18-for-25) from the floor in Concordia’s 83-69 win over Minn.-Morris.
MORRIS, Minn. (12/1/25)---It was a big man's game in the Cobbers return to action after the Thanksgiving Break and Jacob Cook and Jackson Loge were the right players for the job.
Minn.-Morris had no answer for the two Cobber "bigs" as Cook and Loge combined for 44 points, 15 rebounds and shot 72.0% (18-for-25) from the floor in Concordia's 83-69 win over the Cougars.
Cook and Loge's play led Concordia to outscore Morris 46-30 in the pain and have the lead for 36:16 of the 40:00 in the game. CC never trailed after the fifth minute of play in the first half, held a double-digit lead for most of the second half and rolled to its fifth straight win to start the season.
The Cobbers complete the 2-game sweep over the Cougars for the season and move to 5-0 on the year. Morris loses for the second time in the last three games and is now 3-6.
Cook and Loge were able to get the ball down low and get quality looks at the basket the entire game. The Morris defense couldn't come up with a defense to stop Cook and Loge which led to the big point advantage in the paint as well as a 22-shot margin at the free throw line. Concordia went 21-for-28 at the foul line while the Cougar's perimeter offense only got them to the stripe six times with four makes.
Cook finished the game by going 9-for-12 from the floor and posted a game-high 23 points. It's the fourth time this year he has scored at least 20 points in a game.
Cook also added six rebounds and three assists.
Loge was 9-for-13 from the field on his way to dropping his first 20-point game of the year. He finished with 21 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Loge also came away with four steals and two blocks in his 31-minutes of work.
The Cobbers had four starters score in double figures for the third straight game. Senior point guard Peyton Belka was 2-for-5 from outside the arc and put up 16 points, while first-year guard Payton Schell was a perfect 6-for-6 from the foul line and added 11 points.
Concordia's ability to get the ball inside the paint helped CC finish with a 50.0% (29-for-58) shooting percentage from the floor. It's the second straight game the Cobbers have shot at least 50.0% from the field.
The Concordia defense held Morris to a 38.0% (27-for-71) shooting mark from the floor for the game. The Cougars also posted a 30.6% (11-for-36) shooting percentage from 3-point range. The 36 attempted 3-point shots are the most by an opponent this season.
The Cobbers will take their 5-game win streak into the conference opener when they play at St. John's on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 3 p.m.
