Cookin' Up A 1,000-Point Win
Senior Jacob Cook scored his 1,000th career point and led the Cobbers to a decisive 87-68 win over St. Scholastica. Cook scored 28 points and had 12 rebounds as he became the 16th player in program history to reach the 1K point mark.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/03/26)---Senior Jacob Cook checked all the boxes on a special night to remember.
Cook scored his 1,000th career point in the first quarter on his way to a memorable 28-point game which helped Concordia earn an 87-68 win over St. Scholastica in the first game of the 2026 calendar year.
Cook, who entered the game needing five points to reach the 1K milestone, connected on a 3-pointer from the left wing at the 16:59 mark of the first half to become the 16th player in program history to reach 1,000 points for a career.
Cook proceeded to use that injection of adrenaline to put up 20 points in the first half to lead the Cobbers to an 18-point lead at the break. Cook was 9-for-13 from the floor in the first period of play and punctuated his milestone half by throwing down a monster 2-hand jam in the final minute of play.
Cook's inspired play helped Concordia earn their first conference win of the season. CC is now 9-3 in all games and 1-2 in the MIAC.
The Cobbers earned their ninth win of the year with a forceful inside game that produced a 42-32 advantage in rebounds and a 40-30 margin in points in the paint. The 42 rebounds are tied for the fourth highest total by CC in a single game this year and most in their three conference contests.
Concordia also knocked down 11 shots from outside the arc and shot 49.3% (33-for-67) from the floor.
The 11 made 3-pointers marked the third time this season they have posted a double-digit 3-point total and second time in the last three games that has occurred.
Concordia bolted to an 11-3 lead in the first four minutes of the game and pushed the margin to double digits with a layup from Jackson Loge at the 16:09 mark of the opening period of play. CC would then hold a double-digit lead for 32:15 of the final 36:00 of play in the contest.
Cook led all players with his 28 points. He also grabbed 12 rebounds to post his second straight double-double and fourth of the season.
Cook finished off his frameable score line by dishing out six assists.
Loge matched Cook's 12 boards and also had 14 points to post his sixth double-double of the year.
Senior Peyton Belka and first-year guard Payton Schell both ended the game with 14 points to give CC four starters with at least 14 points. Belka also had a career-high nine assists while Schell added four rebounds.
The nine assists by Belka are the most by a Cobber in a single game since Tommy Schyma dropped 10 dimes on Oak Hills Christian on Nov. 17, 2018.
Concordia will look to continue its success when they play at Carleton on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 7:45 p.m.
WELCOME TO THE 1000/500 CLUB: Not only did Cook join the 1000-point club but he also became only the fourth player in program history to score 1,000 points and grab 500 rebounds. He joins other CC legends Jordan Bolger, John Fraase and Luke Linz in the exclusive club.
MIAC LEADERS: Loge and Cook are now 1-2 in rebounding in the MIAC this year. Loge leads the league with a 12.5 rpg average while Cook is second at 8.9. Cook is also second in scoring at 21.2 points per game.
