MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/17/26)---Concordia used its season-long recipe to come away with a big MIAC win on Saturday.
The Cobbers marinated a huge portion of inside play by Jackson Loge and Jacob Cook and seasoned it with the outside shooting spices of Peyton Belka and Payton Schell to produce a tasty 87-73 win over second-place Augsburg.
Loge and Cook combined for 37 points and 24 rebounds, while Belka and Schell matched the inside output and also lit the board for 37 points on an 8-for-16 shooting afternoon from outside the arc.
The four players made up 85.1% of the team's point total for the afternoon.
Concordia's recipe for success earned them their sixth win in the last nine games and upped their season mark to 11-5. CC is now 3-4 in MIAC play and moved into a 3-way tie for sixth place in the conference standings.
Augsburg has its 3-game unbeaten streak come to an end and falls to 12-4 overall and 5-2 against league opponents.
The Cobbers fell behind early and trailed by six points midway through the first half but then used a 13-2 run, sparked by a pair of 3-balls from Belka and Schell and inside buckets from Loge and Cook to take a 5-point lead at 24-19 with 7:38 left in the first half.
Concordia would never trail from that point forward and went on a 7-2 streak in the final 2:33 of the period to grab a 37-31 lead at the break.
The Cobbers put some distance on the board in the first 4:30 of the second half when they scored 12 of the first 16 points of the final half of play.
The Auggies made several runs at CC in the final 12 minutes but could never get closer than two points.
Augsburg connected on a 3-pointer with 5:29 left to cut the margin to two points at 68-66 but then a free throw from Loge and an "and 1" from Justin Courneya pushed the Cobber lead back to six points and helped CC finish with a double-digit lead down the stretch.
Concordia posted nearly identical shooting percentages from inside the arc and outside from distance. The Cobbers shot 47.5% (28-for-59) from the floor and 47.8% (11-for-23) from 3-point range.
The shooting totals mark the third time this season that Concordia has shot better than 40.0% from the field and outside the arc and they are now 3-0 in those games.
Loge ended the day with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while his fellow inside chef, Jacob Cook stirred in 18 points and 13 rebounds.
The 19 points and 11 rebounds added to Loge's MIAC-leading double-double total. He now has eight for the season and continues to lead the league in rebounds (12.0 rpg).
Cook recorded his fifth double-double in the last six games and his seventh overall for the year.
Belka went 4-for-7 from distance and had 18 points, while fellow outside sous chef Schell was 4-for-9 and posted 19 points. Schell also sprinkled in five rebounds, a pair of blocks and two assists.
The Cobbers will take their food truck on the road when they play at Macalester on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 7:30 p.m.
