Bio

Cade Niehaus was promoted to Associate Head Coach of the Cobber’s men’s basketball program in May 2025 after spending three seasons as the lead assistant coach. Niehaus joined the Concordia staff in the summer of 2022 following a season as a graduate assistant at Minnesota State University Moorhead. With the Dragons, he assisted in all aspects of the program, including practice planning, video breakdown, opponent scouting, and recruiting.

Before his time at MSUM, Niehaus attended the University of Northern Iowa, where he served as a student manager from 2017–21. At UNI, he played a role in basketball operations, film analysis, and game-day preparation while working closely with the coaching staff. A native of Fremont, Nebraska, Niehaus graduated from Northern Iowa in 2021 with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resource Management.

His promotion reflects the strong impact he has had on the Cobber program and his role in helping guide the team to back-to-back MIAC postseason appearances, the program’s first since 2015–16. Since joining the staff, Concordia has shown steady growth: finishing 11–14 overall (9-11 MIAC) in 2022–23, improving to 16-10 (12-8 MIAC) in 2023–24 with a MIAC playoff berth, and posting a 12-14 (8-8 MIAC) record in 2024–25 while advancing to the postseason for a second straight year.
