Bio

Freddy Coleman is in his second season as primary assistant for the Cobber men's basketball team. Coleman is a former NCAA Division I student/athlete who played at North Dakota State University from 2006-11. During his tenure with the Bison, Coleman was a part of the 2008-09 Bison squad that advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

Coleman serves as the No.1 assistant coach for the Cobbers and also coordinate all recruiting areas of the program.

Coleman is originally from St. Paul, Minn. where he attended Saint Paul Johnson High School.

Coleman played in 86 games for NDSU in a span of three years from 2007-11. He missed the entire 2009-10 campaign with a torn Achilles tendon. During his playing career for the Bison, Coleman averaged 4.6 points per game and had over 100 assists. He also shot 35.2% from 3-point range during his career.

Coleman's best season was in his senior year where he averaged 8.1 points and 4.8 rebounds per game and also dished out 64 assists.  

In his high school playing days, Coleman starred for both the basketball and football teams for Saint Paul Johnson. He averaged 13.7 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists per game for the basketball team and was named to the Minnesota All-State Team for football where he played quarterback and strong safety. He also was the punter for the football team and returned punts and kickoffs.

Coleman graduated from North Dakota State in 2011 where he majored in Sport and Recreation Leadership. Coleman currently lives in Moorhead
