Consistent Kahlbaughs Pace Cobbers
Nathaniel and Blake Kahlbaugh were the most consistent golfers for Concordia and led the Cobbers at the St. John's Fall Invite.
SAUK CENTRE, Minn. (9/17/17)--- The Kahlbaugh brothers helped Concordia post its lowest score of the season and jump five spots after Day 1 to finish in a tie for seventh at the St. John's Fall Invite.
The Cobbers fired a team total of 303 on Sunday which vaulted them from 12th place to their Top 8 finish. The 303 is the lowest one-round team score since the first round of the Twin Cities Classic last fall when they shot a 298.
The Kahlbaugh brothers were the model of consistency over the weekend for Concordia. Older brother Nathaniel Kahlbaugh carded a pair of 77's to finish at 154 while Blake Kahlbaugh started with a 78 but then tied his brother with a 76 on Sunday. The Kahlbaughs came home in a tie for 29th place in the final individual standings.
While their final round totals were consistent for the weekend, their rounds on Sunday were anything but level. Nathaniel Kahlbaugh had two double bogeys, five bogeys and four birdies on his card on Sunday while Blake had three bogeys, two birdies and a triple bogey.
Sophomore Gage Stromme went with the rollercoaster approach to his weekend rounds in the tournament. He opened with an 81 on Saturday and then shot the lowest round of any Cobber on the weekend on Sunday when he fired a 74. Stromme's 74 consisted of two birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey. Stromme finished with a two-day total of 155 which was good for a tie for 38th place.
Jared Lind and Aaron Ryback were the other two members of the Cobber squad for the weekend.
Lind started with an 81 but then closed with a 76 and came home with a two-day total of 157. Ryback was one shot behind at 158 as he went out in 78 on Saturday and then came home in 80 on Sunday.
Rybeck had the lone eagle of the weekend for any Cobber as he posted a 3 on the par 5 10th hole at Blackberry Ridge GC on Saturday.
WHAT'S NEXT: Concordia will look to continue the momentum of their low score on Sunday when they compete in the three-day Twin Cities Classic next weekend.
