Benson Adds All-Region Honors To His Sophomore Resume
Gabe Benson added one more honor to the ever-growing resume from his sophomore season. Benson was named to the NCAA Division III PING All-Region 6 Team which was announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/16/24)---Gabe Benson (Fargo, N.D./Fargo Davies HS) added one more honor to the ever-growing resume from his sophomore season. Benson was named to the NCAA Division III PING All-Region 6 Team which was announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Benson becomes the fifth player in Cobber men's golf history to earn PING GCAA All-Region honors. He is the first since 2019 when Gage Stromme received the honor.
Benson, who was ranked in the Top 10 of the region for the majority of the season, had his best year in maroon and gold. He won medalist honors at the MIAC Championship Meet with a 5-under total of 211. That score was the lowest by a Concordia golfer in program history at a 3-day MIAC Meet.
Benson went on to become the first Cobber to receive a bid to play in the NCAA Championship Meet.
Benson ended the year with a per round average of 72.7 which is believed to be the lowest in school history. He had six Top 5 finishes and carded five rounds in the 60s during the 2023-24 campaign.
