Consistent Cobbers Finish Sixth At Bemidji St. Invite
Concordia posted scores within one shot of one another for the 2-day Bemidji St. Invite and finished in sixth place in the final team standings.
BEMIDJI, Minn. (9/10/24)---Concordia posted scores within one shot of one another for the 2-day Bemidji St. Invite and finished in sixth place in the final team standings.
The Cobbers opened with a 302 at the Bemidji Town & Country Club on Monday and then bettered that mark by a stroke with a 301. Their final total of 603 was only three shots out of the Top 5 and 10 from the Top 3.
The final team total of 603 also represents a 37-shot improvement over their total from the Augsburg Invite last weekend.
Senior Justin Lamp was the most consistent of the Cobbers at Bemidji. He opened with a 75 and then finished off the tourney with a 76. His total of 151 earned him a tie for 20th place in the final individual standings. It marks the second consecutive tournament this season he has recorded a Top 20 finish.
Sophomore Ryan Engel rallied from an opening round 80 to shoot the low round of the tournament for the Cobbers. He came home with a 1-over-par 72 to post a total of 152 and a tie for 27th place. He leads Concordia in scoring average this season with a 75.0 mark over four rounds.
Freshman Andrew Swanson, playing in his first collegiate tournament, tied Engel with a 2-day score of 152. He shot the low round for CC in Monday's opener when he carded a 73.
Jack Hanson and Mitchell Dewey were the team's No.4 and No.5 finishers. Has opened with an 80 and then improved by six shots to fire a 74 on Tuesday. Dewey had his best round on Monday when he shot a 74. He fell off that pace on Day 2 with an 81.
Concordia will return to facing MIAC competition when they compete in the St. John's Fall Invitational on Sept. 14-15.
