Cobbers Open Spring Slate In Illinois
Concordia opened the 2025 spring season by competing at the 2-day Illinois Wesleyan Invitational. The Cobbers opened the spring with a team score of 327 on Friday and improved that score by 10 shots on Saturday as they posted a 317 to post a total of 644, which placed them 36th in the final team standings.
NORMAL, Ill. (4/05/25)---Concordia opened the 2025 spring season by competing at the 2-day Illinois Wesleyan Invitational.
The Cobbers opened the spring with a team score of 327 on Friday and improved that score by 10 shots on Saturday as they posted a 317 to post a total of 644, which placed them 36th in the final team standings.
Concordia was led by sophomore All-MIAC athlete Ryan Engel. Engel opened with an 83 in his first round of the spring but then shook off the rust to post a 73 and finished at 156. The 73 in Round 2 was the lowest score turned in by a Cobber over the weekend.
Fellow All-MIAC sophomore Jack Hanson was the Cobbers' No.2 finisher. He had the opposite score line as Engel. He started the tournament with his best score and then fell off on Saturday. Hanson carded a 78 in Round 1 and came home with an 83 to finish at 161.
Mitchell Dewey and Tommy Disch were No.3 and No.4 for Concordia. The pair finished within one shot of one another. Dewey opened with an 83 and bettered that by three shots with an 80 and ended the invite at 163.
Disch carded an identical 83 in the opening round and finished with an 81 to record a 2-day total of 164.
Matthew Cone was the fifth member of the Cobber team at the meet. Playing in his very first collegiate tournament, Cone went out in 87 and came home in 86.
Next up for the Cobbers is a trip to Nebraska to compete in the Neb. Wesleyan Invitational on Apr. 14-15.
