Engel's Top 5 Finish Paces Cobbers In Eau Claire
Junior Ryan Engel paced Concordia in their second meet of the season at the Frank Wigglesworth Blugold Invitational hosted by Wis.-Eau Claire. Engel finished the 2-day tournament with a 3-over total of 145 which helped the Cobbers place 10th in the final team standings in a field of 22 squads.
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (9/15/25)---Junior Ryan Engel paced Concordia in their second meet of the season at the Frank Wigglesworth Blugold Invitational hosted by Wis.-Eau Claire.
Engel finished the 2-day tournament with a 3-over total of 145 which was good for fourth place and helped the Cobbers place 10th in the final team standings in a field of 22 squads.
As a team, Concordia was very consistent over the two days. The Cobbers came away with a final total of 611 that included a 306 on Sunday and a 305 on Monday.
It was the first time that Concordia had played in the Frank Wigglesworth Blugold Invite since 2016. The Cobbers also finished in 10th place that year, but this year's team total of 611 was 41 shots clear of the 2016 2-round score.
Engel opened the meet with a 72. The round included four birdies including back-to-back birdies on holes No.8 and No.9. He followed up the 72 on Monday by carding a 73 that had three birdies. Engel finished the tournament by making a two on the Par 3, 7th hole which was his last hole of the day.
Engel has led Concordia in both tournaments this season and has a pair of Top 10 finishes.
Mitchell Dewey was the team's most consistent golfer over Sunday and Monday.. He posted identical scores of 78 and was tied for 58th place in the individual standings. Dewey has now recorded three straight scores under 79.
Jack Hanson shook off an opening round 81 and came away with a 76 on Monday. The 76 was Hanson's low round of the season. He finished the Eau Claire tournament at 157 and was tied for 65th place.
Tommy Disch and Tony Carlin were the other two members of the Cobber traveling squad. Disch started with a 75 and then came home with an 85 on Day 2 to post a total of 160.
Carlin was one shot behind Disch at 161. He had the opposite trend of Disch as he opened with the higher score of the two and then went low on Monday. Carlin posted an 83 on Day 1 and then had a 78 on Day 2.
Concordia will finish off the pre-MIAC part of their fall schedule when they compete in the St. John's Fall Invitational on Sept. 20-21.
