MIAC Meet Day 1 Leaders
Forget the Ryder Cup, it was the Cobbers who were providing all the excitement on the golf course on Saturday. Concordia had all four of its scoring golfers post scores under 78 and is in first place after Day 1 at the MIAC Championship Meet played at Edinburgh GC in Brooklyn Park.

Concordia had all four of its scoring golfers post scores under 78 and is in first place after Day 1 at the MIAC Championship Meet played at Edinburgh GC in Brooklyn Park.
The Cobbers finished the opening round with a team score of 300. That total is one shot clear of Bethel and Gustavus.
After the 18 holes on Saturday, Concordia had al four of its scoring members in the Top 20 of the individual standings with juniors Ryan Engel and Jack Hanson locked securely in the Top 5.
Engel carded two birdies and 13 pars as he fired a 1-over 73 for the day. He is tied for second place – just two shots off the overall lead.
Hanson had three birdies on his way to a 74. He is tied for fourth place heading into the second day of competition.
Tony Carlin and Mitchell Dewey gave CC their four golfers under 78. Carlin also posted three birdies and came home with a 76. He is tied for 14th place. Dewey had an opening 9 score of 38 and then followed that up with a 39 to record a 77. He is tied for 20th place.
Carter Midthune was the fifth member of the Cobbers' championship squad. He fired an 86 in the first MIAC championship round of his career.
The Cobbers will look to continue their opening-round success when they tee off on Day 2 at the conference meet on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 11:55 a.m.
