Engel's Back-To-Back All-Conference Finishes Paces Cobbers At MIAC Meet
Junior Ryan Engel led Concordia at the MIAC Championship Meet. He earned his second straight MIAC All-Conference honor by finishing in tie for sixth place and helped the Cobbers finish seventh in the final team standings.
BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (9/29/30)---Concordia finished up by posting a team score of 313 and finishing in seventh place at the 2025 MIAC Championship Meet.
The Cobbers, who led the tournament after Day 1 on Saturday, improved on their second round score of 320 by seven shots on Monday.
Bethel won the team title with a final total of 891.
Concordia was led by junior Ryan Engel. Engel was never out of the Top 10 on all three days of the tournament and finished in a tie for sixth place with a score of 224 (73-76-75). His sixth-place finish earns him MIAC All-Conference honors for the second straight season. Engel becomes the first Cobber to earn back-to-back All-Conference honors since Mason Opheim in 2020 and 2021.
Engel was the only Cobber player to shoot three rounds in the 70s. His 75 on Monday included three birdies which gave him seven for the tournament.
Sophomore Mitchell Dewey led the Cobbers in birdies over the three rounds. He finished the meet with nine birdies – including five in his round on Sunday.
Dewey placed 30th in the final individual standings with a score of 236 (77-78-81).
The final three members of the Concordia championship team all finished within seven shots of one another.
Tony Carlin was the team's No.3 finisher. He posted a 3-day total of 241 (76-84-81), Carlin was three shots ahead of Carter Midthune, who went 86-92-76 to finish at 244. Jack Hanson was in the Top 5 of the meet after Day 1 with a 74 but then went 84 and 90 to post a total of 248.
Concordia will face most of the same MIAC teams next week when they compete in the annual Twin Cities Classic hosted by Gustavus on Oct. 4-6.
