Engel Uses Finishing Kick To Win Twin Cities Classic
Junior Ryan Engel showed off his finishing kick as he shot a 5-under 68 on the final day of the Twin Cities Classic to race pass the top golfers in the MIAC and win individual medalist honors.
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (10/06/25)---Junior Ryan Engel showed off his finishing kick as he shot a 5-under 68 on the final day of the Twin Cities Classic to race pass the top golfers in the MIAC and win individual medalist honors.
Engel's meet-winning performance helped Concordia finish in sixth place in the field of 16 teams that featured eight of the nine teams in the conference. The Cobbers finished with a final team score of 907 (300-304-303) which was only three shots out of third place.
Engel opened with an even-par 70 on the first day at the Elk River CC. His round included three birdies and three bogeys. Engel fired a 74 on Day 2 at LeSueur CC and was in a tie for third place heading into Monday.
Engel opened Day 3 with a bogey but then made the turn with a 34 that included birdies on 3,5, and 7. His championship bid gathered its momentum on the 10th hole when he eagled the 493-yard Par 5. He followed that up with a birdie on 11 and finished at even par through the final seven holes to post the 68.
His 68 on Monday was the low round by any MIAC golfer by four shots.
Tony Carlin was the No.2 finisher for Concordia. He opened with a 75 then went 80-76 to post a total of 231 which was good for a tie for 33rd place.
Mitchell Dewey was two shots behind Carlin at 233 (78-72-83), while Jack Hanson recorded a 3-round total of 237 (77-78-82) and Carter Midthune was the No.5 finisher for CC at 252 (80-95-77).
Concordia will finish off the fall season by playing in the Comet Invitational on Oct. 8-9 at the Hawley GC.
