Concordia men’s soccer took the field for its second home match of the season on Sunday afternoon at the Jake Christiansen Athletic Complex. Despite a strong second-half push that featured a goal from sophomore Dylan Sipe, the Cobbers couldn’t overcome Nebraska Wesleyan’s early scoring in a 3-1 loss.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (8/31/25) – Concordia men's soccer showed fight in its home opener on Sunday, but an early scoring surge by Nebraska Wesleyan proved too much to overcome as the Cobbers dropped a 3-1 contest at the Jake Christiansen Athletic Complex. Sophomore Dylan Sipe provided the highlight with his first collegiate goal in the second half.
The Cobbers (0-2) leaned on senior goalkeeper Jack Solheid in the opening minutes, with the veteran making three key saves to keep the match scoreless. The Prairie Wolves finally broke through in the 23rd minute to take a 1-0 lead into the break.
NWU extended its advantage with a pair of goals just after halftime, but Concordia answered in the 62nd minute. Freshman Noah Meyer slipped a pass to sophomore Dylan Sipe, who sent a rocket into the upper-left corner of the net, pulling the Cobbers back into the match at 3-1. The Cobbers kept the pressure on late, creating quality chances from Ricco Rolle and Parker Gast, but the Wolves' back line held firm.
Solheid finished the match with five saves, while Concordia saw 17 different players contribute valuable minutes.
The Cobbers will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 6, when they travel to Wisconsin-Stout for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
