Second-Half Woes Continue For Cobbers
Concordia allowed multiple goals in the second half for the second straight game and lost 4-1 at Hamline in the MIAC opener for both teams.
ST. PAUL, Minn. (9/17/25)---Concordia gave up three goals in the second half in its MIAC opener at Hamline and lost 4-1,
The Cobbers held a 1-0 lead after the first 36 minutes of play but then conceded a goal 8:53 before the halftime break and the eventual game-winning goal 4:12 into the second half.
Concordia has now been outscored 7-0 in the second half in the last two games and 16-6 in the final 45 minutes in their seven total games on the season.
The loss drops the Cobbers' overall record to 0-4-3 on the season. Hamline remains unbeaten and moves to 7-0-1.
Concordia's lone goal came courtesy of a Piper defender. After a 50-50 challenge in the middle of the field, the ball went back to the Hamline central defender, who turned and made a pass to his goalie. The ball went wide of the goalie, who scrambled to try and reach the errant pass, and rolled into the net.
The own goal from 40 yards gave the Cobbers a 1-0 lead at the 7:47 mark.
Hamline tied the game at 36:07 when Chris Palma beat two Cobber defenders on the left wing and fired a shot that went inside the near post.
The game winner was sent home from the penalty spot at 49:12 after a CC defender tripped a Hamline player in the penalty area on a slide tackle.
The game went back-and-forth for the next 35 minutes until the Pipers scored off of a dead ball from the right wing and added a fourth on a breakaway.
Hamline held a 21-11 advantage in total shots and a 9-6 edge in shots on goal. HU also held a 5-2 margin in corner kicks.
Parker Gast and Gannon Brooks led CC with three total shots and two on frame.
Cobber keeper Jack Solheid made five saves.
Concordia will have its final non-conference game of the season when it hosts Waldorf (Iowa) on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 3 p.m.
