Nate Young announced his resignation as Concordia men’s tennis coach which will be effective June 24. Young just completed his third season with the Cobbers. In 2024, he guided the team to the most MIAC victories since the 2019 season and the most overall wins since 2020.
Kai Pierce (Fargo, N.D./Fargo Oak Grove HS) and Logan Sandberg (Grand Forks, N.D./Grand Forks Central HS) capped their sophomore seasons by being named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.
Concordia sophomore Kai Pierce (Fargo, N.D./Fargo Oak Grove HS) was named to the MIAC All-Conference Singles Team for the second consecutive season as selected by the conference coaches.
The final match of the 2024 season proved to be the closest in recent history for the Cobbers. Concordia and Hamline battled for four hours before the Pipers were able to edge CC at the wire by a 5-4 score.
Concordia was finally able to get acclimated to the warm weather and Florida sunshine and split the final two matches on their annual spring training trip.
Concordia dropped an 8-1 decision to Bethel in a conference match that was played before the team heads to Florida.
Sometimes the path to success comes in small steps rather than large strides. That was the case in Concordia’s non-conference match with Northwestern. The Cobbers lost 7-2 to the Eagles in 2023, but on Saturday the two teams battled toe-to-toe before Concordia lost a heartbreaking 5-4 decision.
Concordia used five freshmen and two sophomores in their spring opener against Crown and came away with a convincing 9-0 win where they only lost one game in doubles play and didn't lose a set in singles competition.
