FARGO, N.D. (3/30/25)---Make it four straight for the Cobbers and three in a row since returning from Florida.
For the second consecutive, Concordia used four single wins to rally and come away with a 1-point win.
On Saturday, the Cobbers edged Wis.-Superior 4-3 by getting four wins in singles play. On Sunday, CC trailed St. Scholastica 2-1 after the three doubles matches but responded by claiming four straight-set victories in singles to earn the 5-4 win over the Saints.
Concordia is now 5-8 in all matches and 2-5 in conference play. The five overall wins are the most since the 2019 season and the two conference victories are the best since 2018.
First-year athlete
Ryoga Yano was the catalyst for the Cobbers' MIAC win over Scholastica. He was the only CC player to win both of his matches.
Yano teamed with
Isaac Maddock to claim an 8-4 win at No.1 doubles. The win brings the tandem's season record to 5-4. The five victories in doubles play lead the Cobbers.
Yano turned around and made quick work of his match at No.1 singles. He opened with a 6-4 win and then closed out his match with a win in the tie-breaker in the set. He was able to get the final points of the match and won 7-6 (5).
Sandberg went out with a 6-0 win and came back with a 6-4 win at No.3 singles. Pierce followed with a 6-2, 7-5 victory at No.4 singles. Sandberg now has five singles wins, which is tied with Yano for the team lead.
Kringlie produced the match-winning victory. He only lost two games on his way to a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No.5 singles. The win was Kringlie's fourth of the season.
Concordia will put its 4-match win streak on the line when they travel to St. Paul to take on Northwestern on Saturday, Apr. 5. They will return to Moorhead to host St. John's in the final home match of the 2025 season.
