Cobbers Split Battle Of The High C's
ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. (9/19/25)---Concordia split its two matches in a battle of the High C's.
The Cobbers blanked Crown 7-0 in the opener and were shutout by Carleton in the first conference match of the season in the day's finale.
The win and loss on the day leaves Concordia's record at a level 2-2 on the year.
The Cobbers wasted little time in showing their strength against the Polars. CC only lost four games in the three doubles bouts as they took the one team point for dubs play.
The No.3 doubles team of Ryan Bitz and Carson Anderson were first in the barn with their 6-0 win. They were quickly followed by Ryoga Yano and Isaac Maddock in the No.1 spot and Logan Sandberg and Kai Kringlie at No.2 doubles who both posted 6-2 victories.
Concordia continued its dominance into singles play as they recorded straight-set wins in all six matches and only dropped eight total games.
Yano and Maddock won by identical 6-0, 6-1 scores at No.1 and No.2 singles. Sandberg cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No.3 doubles and Bitz claimed a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No.5 singles, while Kai Pierce and Niklas Cook both posted double bagel wins at No.4 and No.6 singles.
The match against the perennial MIAC power Knights featured several quality matches.
The No.3 doubles tandem of Pierce and Momin Durrani lost in the tie-breaker. The went back-and-forth before falling 10-7 in the extra points.
Yano went to the super-set tie-breaker at No.1 singles. He opened with a 7-5 win but then dropped the second set 6-2 before losing 10-7 in the tie-breaker.
Concordia will continue with its fall schedule when they participate in the annual ITA Regional Meet at Gustavus on Sept. 26-29.
