FARGO, N.D. (3/20/26)---Concordia returned home for the first time since their annual spring trip to Florida and cruised past St. Mary's 7-0 in the rare Friday morning match.
The Cobbers didn't drop a set in singles play as they earned their first conference win of the season.
The victory is the fourth in the last six matches for CC and ups their overall record over the .500 mark at 7-6 while they move to 1-3 in league play.
The Cardinals lose for the fourth straight match and are now 4-9 in all contests and 0-4 in the MIAC.
Concordia set the tone in doubles, where all three pairs earned convincing wins. Ryoga Yano and Isaac Maddock opened with a crisp 6–2 decision at No. 1, and the No. 2 team of Logan Sandberg and Kai Kringlie followed with a 6–3 victory. The Cobbers completed the dubs sweep when Kai Pierce and Niklas Cook posted a 6–2 win at the third spot.
Sandberg and Kringlie lead all Cobber doubles teams on the season. They are 7-5 with all 12 matches being played at the No.2 position.
The dominance continued into singles. Yano was in command at No. 1 before his opponent retired early in the second set. Maddock kept the momentum rolling with a 6–1, 6–0 win at No. 2, and Sandberg matched that efficiency by dropping only two games at No. 3.
Pierce powered through a 6–3, 6–0 victory at No. 4, while Kringlie turned in one of the most lopsided results of the day with a 6–0, 6–1 win at No. 5.
Pierce and Maddock are now tied for the team lead in singles wins. Both players have nine victories on the year. Pierce is 9-4 while Maddock is 9-3.
Ryan Bitz closed out the sweep at No. 6, earning a 6–2, 6–0 decision to give the Cobbers their sixth straight singles victory of the afternoon.
The win was Bitz' eighth of the year and he is now 8-2 overall and 7-1 in the No.6 singles spot.
Concordia will look to carry their momentum over to their match with St. John's which is scheduled for Sunday, Mar. 29 at 1 p.m. in Sartell.
