Concordia opened their Sunshine State slate by losing all three of the doubles bouts to fall behind 1-0 but then roared back with their outstanding singles play.
Ryoga Yano set the tone at No. 1 singles, shaking off an early push to post a 6-4, 6-1 win. Isaac Maddock followed with an efficient 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 2, and Logan Sandberg cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 decision in the No. 3 spot.
Kai Pierce delivered one of the key points of the afternoon by grinding out a 7-5 first-set win before pulling away 6-1 at No. 4. Ryan Bitz sealed the team win in dramatic fashion at the sixth spot, rebounding in the super-set tiebreak for a 6-3, 6-7 (3), 1-0 (10-3) victory.
The five singles wins helped Concordia even their overall season record at 4-4.
The Cobbers will look to keep the heat up when they face Adrian and St. John Fisher on Wednesday, Mar. 4.
