No Missed Steps At Outdoor Opening Meets

MORRIS, Minn. (04/02/22)---Concordia miss a step as they transitioned from the indoor to the outdoor season. The Cobbers kicked off the 2022 outdoor campaign at the Minn.-Morris Cougar Invite as well as the USD Early Bird Invite. Concordia sent their field athletes to Morris, while the top track athletes headed south to Vermillion, S.D.

NCAA Indoor All-American Cooper Folkestad led the way for CC at Morris. He won the shot put and was fifth in both the discus and hammer throw. Folkestad won the shot put with a distance of 51-07.00. That mark is tops in the MIAC this year.

Fellow throw teammate Jake Kerzman also had a successful start to the outdoor season. He finished third in the discus, third in the hammer and fourth in the shot put. His top mark of the day came in the discus where he let go a distance of 132-07 which is third farthest in the conference this year.

Freshman Anthony Marsh had the other event win for the Cobbers at Morris. He cleared the bar at 6-06.75 to win the high jump competition.

Solomon Johnson had a pair of wins on the track side at Morris. He claimed the title in the 800 meters with a time of 2:06.88 and won the 1500 meters in 4:24.37.

The Cobber contingent at USD was led by cross country All-American Munir Isahak who put up the fastest time in the MIAC in the 1500 meters. He raced to a 4:02.87 which leads the conference by almost a full second. Isahak also competed in the 800 meters where he crossed the line in a time of 1:59.40.

Hayden Gagnon, who was a part of the Cobber 4x400 relay team at the indoor national meet, clocked a 50.33 at USD which is the second fastest in the conference this year.

Freshman Nolan Morical posted Top 15 MIAC times in both the 100 and 200 meters. He ran an 11.29 in the 100-meter dash which is No.6 in the league this year. His time of 23.23 in the 200 meters is 12th fastest to date.
