Wright And Folkestad Finish Off 2022 AT NCAA Outdoor Meet
Cal Wright and Cooper Folkestad finished their 2022 seasons by competing in their very first NCAA Outdoor National Meet.
GENEVA, Ohio (5/27/22)---Cal Wright and Cooper Folkestad finished their 2022 seasons by competing in their very first NCAA Outdoor National Meet.
Wright ran a 47.78 and finished 13th in the 400 meters. He missed qualifying for the finals by .26 of a second. The 13th-place finish equals his pre-meet seed as he entered the national meet with the 13th fastest time in DIII this season.
The national prelim time of 47.78 marks the fourth time in his career that he has run a sub 48-second 400 meters. The 47.78 is .22 of a second off the time he ran at the Wis.-La Crosse NCAA qualifier that broke his own school record.
Folkestad was the hard-luck story of nationals. He was seeded 12th entering the meet after earning All-American honors in the shot at the NCAA Indoor Meet, but fouled on all three of his attempts on Friday at the outdoor national meet.
