Boss Goss Strikes Again
Brady Goss struck again. He backed his winning performance in the 1500 meters by claiming victory in the 3000-meter steeplechase with the fastest time in Division III this season.
ST. PAUL, Minn. (5/10/25)---Brady Goss struck again.
What's better than one school record and a conference title at the MIAC Championship Meet? How about two school records and two event wins.
That's how Goss the Boss filled out his 2025 outdoor resume on Saturday. Goss set the 3000-meter steeplechase world abuzz by going out and dropping an 8:46.29 on the rest of the nation.
To push that jaw-dropping time into the spotlight, it is currently the fastest time in all of Division III, it would be No.5 in Division II and No.5 in the Midwest Region of Division I. And wait, let's add one more tidbit – his time would be the school record for the Division I school across the Red River that wears green and gold.
Goss' win in the Steeplechase and the 1500 meters helped Concordia finish fourth in the final team standings at the conference outdoor meet. It's the highest finish at the MIAC outdoor meet since 2022. The Cobbers finished with 89.5 team points, which are the most since 2002 and the second highest total since 2001.
Feel free to start engraving his name on the MIAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year award.
The win in the steeplechase was one of three Top 3 finishes for the Cobbers on Day 2 at the conference meet. The other two came from field athletes.
Sophomores Blake Houska and Eli Hayes both scored crucial team points for CC. Houska finished second in the shot put, and Hayes was third in the javelin.
Houska posted a PR distance of 50-03.5 to earn his first All-Conference finish. It's the first time in his career that he has eclipsed the 50-foot mark in the shot put.
Teammate Sam Dioszeghy grabbed All-Conference Honorable Mention honors in the shot put with a distance of 49-00.25, which was good for fifth place.
The hard-luck story of the day belonged to All-American Cooper Folkestad, who entered the event ranked No.1 in all of Division III but fouled on all three attempts in the prelims, with his last attempt landing in the sector line.
Hayes, the defending champion in the javelin, came through with a mark of 183-11 and earned six team points.
Junior Jacob Pipho had his best meet in maroon and gold. He recorded a PR distance of 182-04 and placed fourth in the javelin.
First-year vaulter was the final field athlete to earn team points on Saturday. He cleared a PR height of 14-04, which is No.14 on the school's all-time list.
Tyler Goss, Ryan Richardson and Tommy Schreiner all posted All-Conference Honorable Mention performances on the track side of the meet.
Tyler Goss had one of the turnaround feats of the meet. He placed ninth in the 10K on Friday night and came back to place fourth in the 3K steeplechase less than 18 hours later.
Tyler Goss clocked a personal best time of 9:18.85 and placed fourth to give CC 15 team points in the event. Goss' time is the fifth fastest in program history.
Richardson, competing in his first MIAC outdoor meet, finished fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a PR time of 55.05.
Schreiner qualified for the final in both the 100 and 200 meters on Saturday. His best finish came in the 200 where he ran a PR time of 21.84 and placed sixth. His time is No.3 on the school's all-time list.
Concordia will now hit the last chance circuit and try to improve on their qualifying marks for the NCAA Championship Meet. Don't look for Goss or Folkestad to show up in any results in the next week as it is a bit tough to improve on a No.1 ranking.
