Molstre Finishes Fifth at MIAC Heptathlon
The Cobbers wrapped up competition in the heptathlon Friday afternoon at the 2026 MIAC Indoor Championships, closing out two full days of multi events with the 1,000 meters, Joey Molstre finished fifth overall.
Northfield, Minn. (2/27/26) - The Cobbers wrapped up competition in the heptathlon Friday afternoon at the 2026 MIAC Indoor Championships, closing out two full days of multi events with the 1,000 meters.
Joey Molstre put together a strong all-around performance to finish fifth overall with 4,508 points. He highlighted his second day with a third-place finish in the 1,000 meters (2:47.83, 788 points) and added valuable points in the 55-meter hurdles (8.26, 770 points) and pole vault (3.80m, 562 points). Molstre was consistently near the top of the field throughout the competition and stayed in the mix from start to finish.
Michael Crowder placed 11th overall with 4,013 points. He capped his meet with a solid 2:54.42 in the 1,000 meters (720 points) and added points in the hurdles (8.44, 726 points) on day two to help climb the standings.
Josh Peterson rounded out the Cobber trio, finishing 18th with 3,315 points. He recorded a clearance of 3.40m in the pole vault and battled through the 1,000 meters to complete the seven-event competition.
The overall title was claimed by Soren Kaster of Carleton with 4,783 points, followed by Bailey Evans of Saint John's (4,712) and Connor McCormick of Gustavus (4,694).
Across seven events, 55m, long jump, shot put, high jump, 55m hurdles, pole vault and 1,000m, the Cobbers showed resilience in a deep MIAC field, adding valuable team points and gaining championship experience on the conference stage.
The Cobbers close out the heptathlon of the MIAC Indoor championships but will continue to compete over the next day.
