Add Another MIAC Weekly Award To Folkestad's Resume
Cooper Folkestad used the strength of his two NCAA Division III-leading marks in the discus and shot put to earn his eighth MIAC Field Athlete of the Week honor.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (4/7/26)---In the least surprising decision made by the conference this year, All-American Cooper Folkestad (Sr. Wadena, Minn./Wadena-Deer Creek HS) was named the MIAC Field Athlete of the Week.
Folkestad walked away with the award by posting the top marks in Division III in both the discus and shot put at the Embry-Riddle Classic held in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The award is the sixth outdoor conference weekly honor that Folkestad has won in his career and eighth overall for both indoor and outdoor seasons. He is the most decorated MIAC weekly award-winning athlete in Cobber program history.
Folkestad won his latest weekly award by breaking his own school record in the discus by over 10 feet. He recorded a distance of 181-03 which won the event at the meet that had both Division I and II athletes. His winning mark is also the top distance in Division III this year and
Folkestad also posted the top mark in Division III in the shot put with a toss of 60-01.00. His distance won the event at the meet and is just shy of his school record which he set last season.
