Crowder And Peterson Complete MIAC Decathlon
Michael Crowder and Josh Peterson completed the 10-event MIAC decathlon on Friday. Crowder had his best two events come on the track and finished in ninth place, while Peterson used the strength of the throwing events to place in the No.15 spot.
NORTHFIELD, Minn. (5/01/26)---Michael Crowder used the strength of the two track events on Day 2 to post a Top 10 finish in his very first MIAC decathlon championship.
Crowder scored over 600 points in both the 110-meter hurdles and 1500 meters and finished ninth with a total of 5,409 points. His total was 98 points better than his seed mark entering the meet.
Junior Josh Peterson was the only other Cobber to compete in the conference decathlon competition. He went the field route on Friday with both of his top events coming in the discus and javelin where he scored over 500 points in both disciplines and ended the decathlon with 4,295 points which was good for 15th place. His total is a season-best mark.
Crowder opened the second day by running a 16.03 in the 110-meter hurdles which earned him 729 points – the third most of any of the 10 events in the competition. He persevered through the discus, pole vault and javelin before finishing off his first conference outdoor multi-event with a time of 4:50.24. That finishing time gave him 617 points and secured his Top 10 overall finish.
Both of Crowder's running marks were in the Top 5 among all the athletes in the meet. He ran the third fastest time in the 110-meter hurdles and was No.5 in the 1500 meters.
Peterson placed in the Top 6 in the two throwing events. He was fourth in the discus with a distance of 108-04 and sixth in the javelin at 148-08.
Crowder and Peterson will join their teammates when Concordia hosts the annual Cobber Open on Saturday, May 2 at 1 p.m.
