A Cheese Factory Full Of Personal Bests

LA CROSSE, Wis. (10/14/23)---Concordia competed in Wisconsin for the second straight meet and once again came home with a cheese factory full of career and season bests.

Senior Tanner Olson led the Cobbers at the Jim Drew Invitational hosted by Wis.-La Crosse as he ran a 26:07.8 over the 8K course and helped Concordia finish 13th in the team standings out of 27 teams.

Olson started in the Top 50 of the race and steadily made his way up the standings until he crossed the line in 32nd place in a meet that featured 368 athletes. His time was his personal best on the La Crosse course and was only 6 seconds off his lifetime personal best.

Olson has now led Concordia in all four meets this season.

The freshmen brother tandem of Tyler and Brady Goss were No.2 and No.3 across the finish line for the Cobbers. Tyler Goss has been the team's No.2 runner throughout the year and clocked a 26:30.4 to finish in 38th place. His finishing time is a personal best time by an astounding 27 seconds.

Brady Goss, who was competing in his first collegiate meet after battling an injury to start the year, moved up 38 spots throughout the race and recorded a time of 27:24.8, which placed him just inside the Top 75 scorers in the meet.

Lucas Hinojos and Carter Ferber both recorded PRs in La Crosse and were CC's No.4 and No.5 finishers to close out the scoring squad. Hinojos did Tyler Goss 14 seconds better as he recorded a time that was 41 seconds faster than his previous career best. Hinojos crossed the line in 27:55.6 to record his first sub-28-minute 8K race and come home in the Top 100 overall standings.

Ferber posted a mark of 28:04.4, which is a PR by 6 seconds and marks a huge improvement over his time at the Wis.-Eau Claire meet.

UP NEXT: Concordia will look to continue their upward trend of PR and season-best times when they compete at the MIAC Championship Meet on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. at Carleton College.
