MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/13/24)---It was Friday Night Lights for the Cobbers in their season opener. Concordia kicked off the 2024 campaign by competing in the annual MSUM Twilight Meet.
Sophomore Brady Goss wasted little time in continuing his momentum from last spring's track season. He led the Cobbers at MSUM with a time of 18:40.0. His finishing mark was 35-seconds faster than the next CC finisher and pushed him into the Top 20 individual finishers. He placed 17th in a meet that featured 87 athletes from eight different schools which included NCAA Division I and II squads.
Brady Goss' Top 20 finish helped Concordia place fourth in the final team standings. CC finished with 11 points and bettered DII SW Minnesota State, Crown, and NAIA schools Valley City and Trinity Bible.
Tyler Goss gave the Cobbers a family 1-2 finish. Tyler clocked a 19:15.0 and finished in 30th place.
Carter Ferber and Brady Andrews were the Cobbers' No.3 and No.4 finishers at the opener. Ferber put down a finishing kick and recorded a time of 20:02.1, while Andrews steadily made his way up the field and was right behind Ferber with a time of 20:08.2 in his first collegiate meet.
Another freshman athlete was a part of the Cobber scoring team. Noah Bloch came home in a time of 21:52.2 and was the team's No.5 finisher.
Concordia will have to travel a bit farther next weekend when they compete at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 11 a.m.
