The three straight win-loss scenarios move the Cobbers to 15-9 on the year. CC is 3-5 in MIAC play and tied for seventh place in the conference standings.
Game 1: Concordia 3, Hamline 2
Concordia jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opener when they scored single runs in the first and fourth innings. Brooklyn Hofer had an RBI single up the middle to drive in Concordia's first run of the game, and then Megan Guggisberg's sacrifice fly brought home Hofer in the fourth.
Sophomore starting pitcher Bayleigh Frye was cruising through the Hamline order for the first five innings before running into trouble when she gave up a 2-run, 2-out homer. It was the first long ball allowed by Frye this season and it tied the game at 2-2.
The Cobbers won the game after there were two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Kailee Falconer hit a sinking line drive to right field, and the Piper right fielder decided to come in and try to make the catch on the fly. The ball landed just before she could get to it, and it rolled all the way to the fence. Falconer was able to take third on the triple and won the game on Lily Heskin's single over the top of the shortstop's head.
Concordia outhit Hamline 8-5 in Game 1 with Falconer, Heskin and Hofer posting 2-hit games. Charlotte Bertram and Emma Bowman had the other base knocks for CC.
Frye pitched all 7.0 innings to record her ninth win of the year. She allowed two runs on five hits and struck out four. Frye continues to lead the MIAC in ERA with a 0.84 mark.
Game 2: Concordia 3, Hamline 5
The Cobbers plated single runs in the first and second and it looked like they were in line for a sweep, but the Pipers were able to scratch out single runs in the third, fourth and seventh innings and put up a game-changing two runs in the sixth.
Hofer brought home the first run for CC to collect her second RBI of the day, and then Corra Utash unloaded on a pitch in the second frame to record her first collegiate home run.
Concordia was able to bring the game-tying run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh after Bowman scored on an infield error, but a fly ball to left field ended the Cobbers' comeback hopes.
CC had six hits in Game 2 with six different players getting a single base knock.
Junior Lauren Staples pitched the first 6.2 innings for CC and gave up seven hits and three walks.
Concordia will finish off the stretch of six home games in four days when they host Augsburg on Sunday, Apr. 13 at 1 p.m.
