JAMESTOWN, N.D. (2/20/26) — Concordia College softball couldn't recover from an early surge by University of Jamestown, falling 7-1 to the Jimmies on Friday morning.
Jamestown (5-0) seized control with a three-run second inning and steadily added to its lead with single runs in the third and fifth and a two-run fourth to build a 7-0 cushion. The Jimmies finished with nine hits, highlighted by triples from Trinity Gregg and Peyton Quam, a double by Lauren Weigel and a solo home run from Sydney Grendler.
Concordia tallied seven hits and drew five walks but left eight runners on base. The Cobbers generated multiple scoring opportunities, including back-to-back hits in both the fourth and fifth innings, yet were unable to deliver a key hit with runners in scoring position.
Megan Guggisberg led the offense, going 2-for-3 with a home run and the team's lone RBI. Her two-out solo shot in the sixth inning broke up the shutout and provided Concordia's only run of the game. Kailee Falconer reached base four times, finishing 2-for-2 with two walks, while Lily Heskin and Reese Hauck each added a hit.
In the circle, Mallory Leitner (0-1) was charged with the loss after allowing six runs on eight hits in 3.1 innings. Lauren Kohlgraf worked 1.2 innings in relief, and Kegen Coulson tossed a scoreless sixth inning with one strikeout.
Jamestown pitchers Abby Blair and Maddie Hairgrove combined to limit Concordia to one run over seven innings, navigating several Cobber threats to secure the victory.
Concordia will look to regroup later today against University of Mary before facing Minot State University at 3 p.m. Saturday and Dickinson State University at 6 p.m. to close out its opening weekend.
