JAMESTOWN, N.D. (2/20/26) — Concordia dropped a 10-1 decision to the University of Mary on Saturday afternoon in a five-inning nonconference contest in Jamestown.
The Marauders seized early momentum with a three-run first inning. A two-run single from Bree Waldron followed aggressive baserunning on the basepaths, and an RBI double to center extended the lead to 3-0.
Mary added three more runs in the third, capitalizing on a Concordia error to stretch the margin to 6-0. Jianna Cota singled and advanced on the miscue, Madison Shamanski lifted a sacrifice fly, and Jenel Mallari drove in an unearned run with a double to right center.
The Marauders broke the game open in the fourth with four runs on five hits. Cota's ground-rule double brought home Genevieve Hastings before Shamanski connected on a two-run home run. Mallari capped her 3-for-3 afternoon with another RBI double to make it 10-0.
Despite the deficit, Concordia continued to apply pressure offensively. The Cobbers put runners on base in four of the five innings and finished with five hits and four walks.
In the first, Kailee Falconer worked a leadoff walk and later advanced into scoring position. Reese Hauck singled, and Kate Gulbranson delivered a two-out base hit to right center to put the Cobbers in scoring position, but Mary was able to escape the threat.
Charlotte Bertram singled in the second to keep the offense moving, and Concordia mounted another rally in the fourth. Gulbranson and Jocelyn Maki drew back-to-back walks before Morgan Guggisberg added a two-out free pass to load the bases. The Marauders worked out of the jam with a lineout to end the inning, stranding three Cobbers.
Concordia broke through in the fifth. Falconer opened the frame with a triple to center field and scored on a sacrifice fly by Megan Guggisberg. Hauck followed later in the inning with a triple of her own and finished 2-for-3 at the plate. Falconer reached base twice, going 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.
In the circle, Mallory Leitner (0-2) started and recorded one strikeout in 2.1 innings of work. Kegen Coulson provided 1.2 innings in relief, and Lauren Kohlgraf closed the game with a scoreless fifth inning, allowing just one hit.
Concordia stranded seven runners on base and forced Mary pitchers to throw 93 pitches in the afternoon as the Cobbers continued to compete throughout the contest.
The Cobbers will return to action Saturday with a pair of games in Jamestown. Concordia is set to face Minot State University at 3:00 p.m. before taking on Dickinson State University at 6:00 p.m.
