Cobbers Explode for 13 Runs to Defeat Baruch
Concordia College erupted for 13 runs over a three-inning stretch to defeat Baruch College, 13-4, in non-conference play in Melbourne, Fla.
MELBOURNE, Fla. (3/4/26) – Concordia erupted for 13 runs over a three-inning stretch to defeat Baruch College, 13-4, in non-conference play in Melbourne, Fla.
Baruch struck first in the top of the second, capitalizing on three Concordia errors to plate three runs. An RBI double from Jules Wychunas highlighted the inning as the Bearcats grabbed a 3-0 lead.
The Cobbers responded immediately in the bottom half. Concordia drew 11 walks in the game and used patience at the plate to fuel a four-run second inning. Bailey Plante drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk before Reese Hauck delivered a two-run single to left to put Concordia in front 4-3.
Concordia continued to apply pressure in the third. Charlotte Bertram singled home a run, and Plante ripped her second extra-base hit of the game, a double to center, to extend the lead. Plante later scored on a wild pitch to make it 7-3.
The fourth inning broke the game open. Jocelyn Maki doubled to center to score two and later crossed the plate on a wild pitch. Plante added another RBI double, Morgan Guggisberg singled home a run, and Hauck capped the six-run frame with an RBI double to push the advantage to 13-3.
Baruch tried to fight back in the fifth with a single run scored to make it 13-4, but it wasn't enough to overcome the cobbers.
Plante finished 2-for-2 with two doubles, three RBI, three runs scored and a walk. Hauck went 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Maki was 2-for-2 with two RBI and three runs scored. Gulbranson scored three times and reached base in all three plate appearances via walk.
In the circle, Kegen Coulson (1-2) earned the complete-game win, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits while striking out three and walking none across five innings.
Concordia out-hit Baruch 9-6 and improved with a balanced offensive attack that featured four doubles and 10 RBI.
The Cobbers have two games today, March 4th. The first game is at 9:00 AM against Albright and game two is at 1:30 PM against Rose-Hulman.
