Falconer Leads Cobbers To Fourth Win In Florida
Senior Kailee Falconer had a career-high five RBI to lead Concordia to a dramatic 8-6 win in extra innings over Rose Hulman.
MELBOURNE, Fla. (3/4/26)---Concordia used a late push and a big game from senior Kailee Falconer to erase an early deficit and grind out an 8–6 extra-inning win over Rose‑Hulman on Wednesday afternoon in Melbourne, Fla.
The win came after the Cobbers dropped a 9-2 decision to Albright earlier in the day.
The split on Day 3 in Florida gives CC a 4-2 record on their annual spring training trip.
The Cobbers scored three times in the first extra inning and made that stand up to earn the 8-6 win
After falling behind 2–0 in the first, Concordia answered with a 4‑run burst in the second inning. Lily Heskin jump‑started the frame with an RBI double, and Falconer followed with a 2‑run single and scored later in the inning on a Morgan Guggisberg RBI hit.
That early surge gave the Cobbers a 4–2 lead, but Rose‑Hulman responded with three runs in the third to move back on top.
Concordia drew even again in the sixth when Falconer delivered her third RBI of the day, doubling home Heskin to tie the game at 5–5. From there, reliever Mallory Leitner shut the door, allowing just one unearned run over five innings to keep the Cobbers in position for the dramatic late-game win.
The Cobbers opened the eighth with a flurry as Alexa Krueger was placed on second to start the inning, advanced on a sacrifice and scored when Bailey Plante reached on a fielder's choice. Heskin followed with her third hit of the afternoon, and Falconer struck the game's biggest blow—a two‑run double to center that stretched the lead to 8–5.
Rose‑Hulman scratched across a run in the bottom half, but Leitner and the Cobber defense closed it out without further damage.
Falconer went 3‑for‑5 in the game with a career-high five RBI. Her performance included two doubles and a stolen base. Heskin also went 3‑for‑4 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Plante added two runs and an RBI. Morgan and Megan Guggisberg combined for three hits.
Leitner earned the victory to improve to 3–2, scattering four hits and striking out one over five steady innings.
Concordia doubled up Rose-Hulman in hits as they outhit the Fightin' Engineers 12-6. CC committed just one error as they improved to 4–6 on the season.
The Cobbers will have a day off on Thursday and then return to action on Friday, Mar. 6 when they play RPI and Dubuque.
