MELBOURNE, Fla. (3/06/26)--- Concordia used a pair of momentum‑swinging innings to take down Dubuque 9–6 in extra innings on Day 5 of their annual spring trip to Florida.
The Cobbers, who beat RPI 2-1 earlier in the day, have won three straight games and are 6-2 in Florida. CC is now 6-6 in all games.
The Cobbers built an early 2–0 lead in the third when Lily Heskin scored on a bases‑loaded walk by Reese Hauck and Kailee Falconer came home on a sacrifice fly from Megan Guggisberg. Concordia's offense then went quiet until the sixth, but the game changed dramatically in the middle innings. Dubuque struck for five runs in the fifth, stringing together six hits to jump ahead 5–2.
Concordia answered immediately. In the sixth, Bailey Plante delivered the biggest single swing of the contest – a bases‑clearing single that turned into a three‑run play after an outfield error, flipping the score back to 5–4 in favor of CC. Falconer added an RBI groundout moments later to tie the game, and the Cobbers reclaimed the lead at 6–5.
Dubuque forced extra innings by scoring on a wild pitch in the seventh, but Concordia again had the response. In the eighth, Heskin ripped an RBI double down the left‑field line to score pinch‑runner Cate Kehoe, and Falconer followed by blasting a two‑run homer to center—her third RBI of the game—to give the Cobbers all the separation they needed.
Falconer finished with two hits, two runs scored and three RBI, while Heskin went 2‑for‑3 with two runs and two RBI. Plante added a hit, two RBI and two runs scored during the Cobbers' biggest offensive surges.
Lauren Kohlgraf and Mallory Leitner combined to hold Dubuque to six earned runs over eight innings, with Leitner throwing the final four frames to earn the win. The Cobbers and Spartans both finished with nine hits in the game.
Concordia will finish off its spring trip on Saturday, Mar. 7 when they face Wis.-Superior and Emerson.
