Cobbers Squeeze Home Second Straight Extra-Inning Win
Concordia picked up its second straight walk-off win as they rallied twice in extra innings to defeat Rensselaer 3–2 in nine innings in the first of two games on the penultimate day of the team’s trip to Florida.
MELBOURNE, Fla. (3/04/26)--- Concordia picked up its second straight walk-off win as they rallied twice in extra innings to defeat Rensselaer 3–2 in nine innings in the first of two games on the penultimate day of the team's trip to Florida.
The win is the fifth in the last six games for the Cobbers. CC is now 5-2 on its spring trip with three games left before heading back to Moorhead.
The Cobbers trailed in both the eighth and ninth frames but came up with timely hits each time before pushing home the winner in the bottom of the ninth.
After seven scoreless innings from both sides, Rensselaer struck first in the top of the eighth. Concordia answered immediately when Bailey Plante, who started the inning on second, came home on a two‑out RBI single through the right side from Morgan Guggisberg to tie the game at 1–1.
Rensselaer again moved ahead 2–1 in the ninth, but the Cobbers responded with another rally. With Reese Hauck placed on second to start the inning, Megan Guggisberg legged out an infield single to put runners on the corners. Jocelyn Maki followed with a sharp single to center to score Hauck and even the game. Concordia sealed the win when Kate Gulbranson put down a squeeze bunt that which allowed Megan Guggisberg to score the walk‑off run.
Kegen Coulson delivered the best outing of her career, going the full nine innings while allowing just five hits and no earned runs. She struck out four and worked out of trouble multiple times, improving to 1–3 on the year.
Concordia totaled five hits in the game, led by multi‑hit efforts from both Megan and Morgan Guggisberg. Maki added a hit and drove in the tying run in the ninth, while Plante scored twice.
The Cobbers will finish off Friday when they match up against Dubuque in the lone night game of the trip at 7 p.m.
