11 Runs + Coulson Pitching = 8th Win In Florida
Concordia erupted for 11 runs on 11 hits and beat Emerson in the final game in Florida. Sophomore pitcher Kegen Coulson only allowed four hits as the Cobbers posted their eighth win of their annual spring training trip.
MELBOURNE, Fla. (3/07/26)--- Concordia erupted for nine runs over the final three innings in their final game in Florida and pulled away for an 11–4 win over Emerson (Mass.)
The Cobbers came up with 11 hits as they won for the fifth straight time to end their annual southern spring training trip.
CC finished their 10 games in Florida with an 8-2 mark and are now 8-6 in all games in 2026.
The Cobbers struck first when senior outfielder Kailee Falconer manufactured a run in the opening inning, reaching on a single, stealing second, taking third on an error, and scoring on the same play.
Morgan Guggisberg extended the lead to 2–0 in the third after tripling down the right-field line and scoring on a wild pitch.
The Lions answered with three runs in the bottom half of the third and added another in the fourth to move ahead 4–2, but after that it was all Concordia.
The Cobbers sent nine batters to the plate in a 5-run fifth inning, highlighted by an RBI single from senior Jocelyn Maki and a two-run double by first-year infielder Olivia Olberding. CC had three hits in the game-decisive fifth frame.
Concordia also capitalized on three Lion errors in the frame to reclaim a 7–4 lead.
Concordia continued to create pressure on the bases in the sixth. Reese Hauck scored on a passed ball, and two pitches later Megan Guggisberg came home on a wild pitch, stretching the margin to 9–4. In the seventh, Morgan Guggisberg delivered the final blow with a two-run single to right field, giving the Cobbers double-digit runs for the third time on their spring trip.
Sophomore pitcher Kegen Coulson got the start in the circle and was steady throughout. She threw all seven innings and allowed three earned runs, struck out three and didn't give up a free pass.
She retired the final six batters she faced to secure her third win of the season.
Concordia outhit Emerson 11-4 for the game. It was the third time in Florida that the Cobbers had posted a double-digit hit total.
Morgan Guggisberg went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Falconer, Olberding and Lily Heskin all had 2-hit games with Olberding also posting a pair of RBI and two runs scored.
Concordia will return to Minnesota and have three weeks off before returning to action on Apr. 1 when they host St. Olaf.
