Maki Caps A Lifetime 3-Day Weekend With MIAC Honors
Jocelyn Maki was named the MIAC Player of the Week on Monday. The award came a day after earning her college degree and two days removed from hitting her first college gran slam and helping the Cobbers sweep Augsburg.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/04/26)---It was a pretty good three days in the life of senior Jocelyn Maki (Hibbing, Minn./Nashwauk-Keewatin HS). On Saturday she hit her first college grand slam and helped the Cobbers sweep Augsburg. On Sunday she walked across the stage and received her college diploma. And finally, on Monday she was named the MIAC Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
All in all, some would say that would be the best 3-day weekend of a lifetime.
Maki was named the MIAC Player of the Week after hitting .545 with a 1.364 slugging percentage while driving in 10 runs in Concordia's four games last week.
She becomes the first Cobber to earn MIAC Player of the Week honors since the 2020 season.
Maki had a hit in all four games which included a pair of home runs and her first career grand slam. She finished the week with a .692 on-base percentage didn't make an error in 34 chances in the field.
Maki started the week by going 3-for-5 with three RBI and two doubles in the Cobbers' doubleheader against St. Olaf on Tuesday. She followed that up by going 3-for-6 with seven RBI and two home runs in the season-ending doubleheader at Augsburg on Saturday. Maki hit the first grand slam of her collegiate career in the first game against the Auggies.
Her award-winning, degree-earning week helped her finish the season with a .317 batting average and a .519 slugging mark. She led the team in RBI for the year with 28. All three of those stat numbers are single-season highs.
