STORY LINE: Concordia stumbled out of the gate against Augsburg, got outscored 22-8 in the first quarter and could never recover as they fell 91-65 in Minneapolis. The Cobbers committed 24 turnovers and the Auggies turned those miscues into a 43-16 margin in points off of turnovers.
RECORDS: The Cobbers fall for the second straight MIAC game and are now 3-4 in all games and 1-2 in conference play. Augsburg wins for the fourth straight games and remains unbeaten in the MIAC. The Auggies are now 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the league.
FIRST QUARTER FALLOUT: The Cobbers scored the first two points of the game but then Augsburg went on 14-2 run and finally finished off the opening period on a 8-2 streak. Concordia shot just 20.0% (3-for-15) from the floor and didn't connect on one of their four 3-point attempts in the first quarter. The Auggies shot 60.0% from both the floor (9-for-15) and 3-point range (3-for-5).
STAT STUFF: Turnovers and points off those turnovers was the biggest statistical difference in the game. Concordia finished the game by shooting 40.3% (25-for-62) from the field and 35.0% (7-for-20) from outside the arc while Augsburg connected on 51.6% (32-for-62) of their attempts from the floor and 37.0% (10-for-27) of their 3-point shots. The Cobbers held a 38-36 edge in rebounds and a 16-8 margin in second-chance points.
DEEP SCORING PRODUCTION: Concordia had 12 players with at least two points in the game. The Cobber bench scored 32 points which is the most this season and a big difference from their game on Wednesday at St. Mary's when they only had four points from the bench.
ELF STORY: Junior Mira Ellefson was the only Cobber in double figures in scoring. She finished with 10 points and also grabbed four rebounds. She has now scored at least 10 points in six straight games and leads CC in scoring with a 14.3 ppg average.
UP NEXT: Concordia will finally return home after their 4-game road trip. The schedule doesn't get any easier as CC will host No.3-ranked St. Thomas on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 5:45 p.m. The Tommies are unbeaten on the year at 7-0 and are coming off a 92-30 win at home over Carleton on Saturday.
