STORY LINE: Concordia was outscored 22-7 in the first quarter and could never chip in to the Bethel lead as they lost 83-48 in Moorhead. The Cobbers shot only 29.4% (15-for-51) from the floor as they lost for the first time in five games.
RECORDS: Concordia had their 4-game win streak come to a close. The Cobbers are now 7-8 in all games and are an even 4-4 in the MIAC. Bethel wins for the seventh time in the last eight games and moves to 11-4 overall and 5-3 in league play.
DIFFERENCE MAKER: The biggest statistical difference in the game came from Bethel's full-court pressure. Concordia had 24 turnovers in the game and the Royals turned those miscues into a 32-8 advantage in points off of turnovers.
A QUARTER TO BUILD ON: Concordia outscored Bethel 15-13 in the fourth quarter of play and limited their turnovers to just three for the 10-minute period. The Cobber defense also limited Bethel to just 28.6% (4-for-14) shooting from the floor in the period.
STAT STUFF: In addition to their 29.4% shooting mark from the floor, Concordia shot 20.0% (3-for-15) from outside the arc. Bethel shot 46.0% (29-for-63) from the floor but only 13.3% (2-for-15) from 3-point range. The Royals held a 46-34 edge in rebounds and held a 54-20 advantage in points in the paint.
10-POINT TRIO: Concordia had three players with at least 10 points in the game. The Cobbers were led by Grace Wolhowe who was 4-for-4 from the free throw line and finished with 11 points. Elizabeth Birkemeyer and Autumn Thompson both had 10 points in the contest. Birkemeyer also led the team with six rebounds.
UP NEXT: Concordia will stay at home and complete their 3-game home stand when they square off against St. Mary's on Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 5:45 p.m. The Cobbers lost earlier in the year against the Cardinals in Winona. SMU is now 9-6 overall and 5-3 in the MIAC and is coming off a 65-56 win against Macalester.
