Season-Opening Success Continues

Senior Carlee Sieben paced the Cobbers by going 3-for-5 from outside the arc and finished with a game-high 21 points.
Concordia has now beaten Morris in three consecutive seasons and is 9-1 against the Cougars in the past 10 match-ups between the two teams. CC is also 6-4 in its last 10 season-opening games.
Senior Jordyn Kahler scored the first points of the year for the Cobbers when she connected on a 3-point field goal on Concordia's first possession of the season.
Sieben would add a pair of free throws and a 3-pointer and Makayla Anderson connected on a layup to give CC a 10-4 lead at the 6:56 mark of the first quarter.
The Cougars cut the lead to one point by running off the next five points before Concordia closed out the quarter on a 14-9 run to take a 24-18 lead into the second quarter.
The Cobber lead was trimmed to one point for the second time in the game at 26-25 with 7:54 remaining in the half but then Concordia head coach Kim Wagers took a timeout and CC responded with an 8-2 run. The Cobbers pushed the lead to double digits on a 3-point basket from Alexa Snesrud at the 2:57 mark and went into the halftime break with a 49-37 lead.
Concordia let Morris get as close as seven points early in the third quarter but pushed the margin back to double digits with 7:44 left in the third and outscored the Cougars 15-14 in the quarter.
The Cobbers put the game on ice in the fourth by posting a 19-6 margin in points.
Concordia shot 47.5% (29-for-61) from the floor, 58.8% (10-for-17) from distance and 75.0% (15-for-20) from the free throw line. The Cougars posted a line of 36.7% (18-for-49), 37.5% (6-for-16) and 60.0% (15-for-25).
The two teams were whistled for a combined 43 fouls and shot 45 free throws.
Sieben added four rebounds and two steals to go along with her 21 points. She has dropped 43 points and has shot 9-for-17 from 3-point range in the last two games against Morris.
Anderson was one of three other Cobbers who had at least 10 points in the game. She came away with 12 points to go with a team-high six rebounds.
Sophomore transfer Peyton Bradenbach was 3-for-5 from the floor and finished with 11 points and three steals in her first game in maroon and gold.
Sophomore center Maci Wheeldon had 10 points and grabbed three rebounds.
Snesrud posted nine points and five board and was 2-for-3 from distance.
Concordia will host its home opener on Friday, Nov. 15 when they face Providence from Winnipeg, Man. at 5:30 p.m.
