Anderson's Double-Double Keys Cobbers' Win
Senior Makayla Anderson scored 22 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and led Concordia to a convincing 77-46 win over St. Catherine.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/08/25)---Senior Makayla Anderson scored 22 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and led Concordia to a convincing 77-46 win over St. Catherine.
The Cobbers led wire-to-wire as they erased the first home loss in two years on Saturday. Concordia shot 59.4% (19-for-32) from the floor, made seven 3-point field goals and cruised to a 51-22 lead at the halftime break. CC kept the Wildcats from making a second-half run and secured their seventh win of the season.
Concordia is now 7-5 on the year and 2-3 in the MIAC. St. Catherine, who entered the game with an identical record to the Cobbers, fall to 6-6 in all games and 1-4 in conference play.
Anderson was one of the dominant forces around the basket for the Cobbers.She was a part of a frontline crew that outrebounded the Wildcats 41-27 and held a 36-20 edge in points in the paint.
Anderson only missed three attempts all game. She went 8-for-10 from the floor, 3-for-3 from outside the arc and 3-for-4 from the foul line. Her three made 3-pointers are a season high and the most she has ever drained in a single game.
Anderson's 22-point, 10 rebound performance gave her the first double-double of the year. It is also the second time she has scored at least 20 points in a game and the second time she has posted a double-digit rebound total.
Concordia finished the night by shooting 47.5% (29-for-61) from the field and 38.1% (8-for-21) from distance. The 47.5% field goal percentage and 29 made baskets are a season high in conference play this season for the Cobbers.
The CC defense held SCU to 27.0% (17-for-63) shooting from the floor and 31.3% (5-for-16) from 3-point range.
The Cobbers also forced 16 turnovers and turned those into a 20-7 edge in points off of miscues.
Senior guard Carlee Sieben was the only other Concordia player with more than eight points in the game. She finished with 18 points to go with three assists and three rebounds.
Junior Molly Musland was perfect from the floor. She went 3-for-3 from the field and 2-for-2 from outside the arc and finished with eight points.
Concordia will go on the road for the first time in 2025 when they play at St. Olaf on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 3 p.m.
